Makeup Monday: Lashes + Volume

Wanting to add a bit of volume to your lashes, but don’t want to use a liquid, gel or pencil liner and don’t want it to be bold/dramatic?!……try using a black or dark brown eyeshadow for a soft way to boost up your look.  Follow these tips to achieve the illusion of having more volume and density to your lashes:

1)      When applying mascara to your lashes, wiggle from the root and up.  This allows the brush to deposit more product at the root of your lashes allowing them to appear very dense.  Try to apply the mascara generously and take your time.  In between each coat, allow the mascara to dry for about 30 secs.  2-3 coats of mascara should give you a good boost.

2)      For the more intense volumized look, add an eyeshadow to the top line of your lashes.  This adds the illusion of having more volume.  Using a dark brown or black eyeshadow with an angled brush, gently apply a soft line very closely to the root of your lashes (Tip: For more drama, focus heavenly on the outer part of your eye to create a semi lift cat-eye affect) If necessary, make sure to blend softly the top line of that eyeshadow you applied using your brush, a q-tip, or even using your finger.  This allows everything to look a bit more natural and not dramatic or harsh.

I hope that helps you all.  Please leave comments if any questions or suggestions.

Have a great day beauties! xo J

Mini Haul (Chanel, 24hr Color Tattoos...and more)

Hello Everyone!

I’m back....and I’m here to share with you a mini haul I’ve done recently.  The items I picked up are:
   Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation
   CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara
   Real Techniques Lash/Brow groomer
3 NEW Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadows

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation
You all know how much I love Chanel products, especially their foundations which I raved about in my previous foundation post.  Anyhow, I purchased Chanel’s newest foundation formula the Perfection Lumiere.  The formula is considered to be a long wear flawless foundation, and yes it certainly is.  I’ve already given this a try, and the foundation definitely holds up on my skin for almost the entire day, and it has the perfect coverage that I love.  I will do an in-depth review on this foundation over the next few days, please check back for that. J

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadows
Sooo…these have been a huge deal in the makeup community.  I have been hearing so many great things about these new eyeshadows so I just had to pick them up.  They have been compared to MAC Paintpots, so I just had to try a few myself.  A drugstore product compared to MAC and at a cheap price, total steal!!  The colors I got are: (15) Audacious Asphalt, (35) Tough as Taupe, and (45) Bold Gold.  I plan to get a few more colors from the collection.  An in-depth review on these is forthcoming also. J

CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara
By far the best drug store mascara that I love love love.  This mascara is definitely comparable to other higher end products…and I for sure recommend picking this up whenever in a pinch.

Real Techniques Lash/Brow groomer
Every woman needs this in their makeup kit.  I unfortunately lost mine so I had to pick up a new one.  This is my first time trying this particular tool, but not my first trying this brand.  I’m a huge fan of Samantha Chapman and her brush line Real Techniques…check out my review here if you’re interested (http://www.beautylish.com/p/real-techniques-by-samantha-chapman-core-collection#pr-icguv).  My old groomer I owned was from MAC which I loved a lot because the bristles on the brush were nice and dense, but the comb was plastic so you couldn’t really comb out clumps from your lashes thoroughly if you needed too.  However, with this new Real Techniques groomer I picked up it has a metal comb, so getting in between your lashes will be perfect and precise.

That concludes my mini haul, please check back for product reviews on the Chanel foundation and the Maybelline eyeshadows that I will post over the next few days.

And last but not least, I have a small announcement I’d like to make.  Starting next Monday, I will be starting a series call “Makeup Monday”.  Every Monday, I will post something random specifically related to makeup.  This is a beauty blog so everything gets discussed, but on Monday I particularly will be dedicating that day to makeup only.  Not saying I will stop posts the other days of the week, but just on Monday’s….it will be Makeup Monday.  So definitely look out for those.

Thank you everyone for continuing to follow me along, I truly appreciate it.  Please continue as it will bring enjoyment to your day, and also don’t forget to spread the “blog name”…the more followers the merrier.  J

Have a good day beauties! xo
